The Mama Daze

Let me start by saying hello. Hello! I’m polite like that.

Oooh, and Happy Valentine’s Day. Not sure if you celebrate, but not knowing you yet, it’s a risk I’ve decided to boldly take.

I’m Laura, and I’m a 39 year old, seriously sleep-deprived, first-time mum, who is literally hanging on by a thin thread most days. You’ll see I wrote ‘literally’ here. I’m happy to send photos of this flimsy slither of thread to any doubters. After 8 months, the thread’s looked better. As have I.

You see, here I am, finally getting around to doing something creative, as I’ve threatened to do since my little insomniac was born back in June 2017, and I’m finding that my mind is basically mush. I mean, I was never ‘Noble prize winning/ultimate dinner party guest’ calibre, but my brain could function at a reasonably high enough level to remember to put milk on my cereal and orange juice in a glass, and not the other way round. Although milk in a glass works, I guess. You see, I can’t even function enough most days to work that out.

My little insomniac, is also lovingly known as Monkey Bear. Or Joshua if we’re being official and filling out a form. He is my first and most adored child. He has a furry brother called Milo, who is a Cockapoo. To be more accurate, he is half Cockapoo, half lunatic, half lion, half dope. Yes, he is 2 dogs’ worth, and is (lovingly?) also known as Poo Face.

Now I know we’ve only just met, but I hope you’ll stick with me a little while, because in fairness, as well as giving me some much-needed company throughout the days, it also might end up being quite entertaining for you as this has the potential to be a car crash. #justsaying #hatehashtags

The Mama Daze is exactly that for me, a complete daze of days all rolled together in an equal balance of pure love, joy, frustration, confusion, laughter, hope, fear, baffledom, and more.

I am winging it 24/7 like the majority of mamas, so join me on this journey and please save me from the Small Potatoes theme tune. It’s amazing, yes, but I have now forgotten what all other music sounds like.
