Detox – Ginger & Turmeric Tea

Why not try this delicious ginger & turmeic tea as a great way to detox and refresh your mind for the day ahead :)

You probably all know by now what detoxification is. It’s essentially ridding your body of harmful toxins, and there are plenty of ways to do it – check out my posts on ways to detox and daily rituals if you’d like some ideas on where to start 😉

A detox diet provides the simplest way to detoxify, and I try to do a gentle detox whenever I can – it makes me feel all lovely and fresh inside and I know it’s doing great stuff for my skin and liver. A basic rule of thumb in detox diets is this: the more fiber and water, the better. So, essentially eat lots of vegetables and fruits, beans and nuts, and steer clear of caffeine, carbonated drinks, sugars, alcohol and yeast.

I’ve talked about the virtues of sipping lemon water every morning – terrific for helping alkalise our systems, flushing toxins and getting our livers tip top and clean.

So today, I thought I’d share an easy hot drink you can enjoy each morning too – A Ginger Healing Tea.


You’ll need:

  • Boiling water
  • Grated fresh ginger (you can use powdered)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
  • A squeeze of lemon
  • You can add a little natural honey to sweeten if you like, too.

Mix it all together and let it steep in your favourite mug for 10 minutes. Then sip away and enjoy! Both ginger and turmeric are known for their ability to detox and cleanse the liver, helping it to function more efficiently and allow toxins to leave the body. Try this warm drink for a week and I really hope you’ll start to feel the difference 😉
